The Anniversary of Qafthan
Massacres Passes Quietly Without
Mention by the Government Some of the worst massacres ever committed in Hundreds of innocent Albanians were killed by "our" ruthless
military officers, and their bodies disposed of in hidden places, and have
yet to be recovered. The governments of investigation as to who ordered these killings? Why were they ordered? What was the
chain of command? Who committed them? Where are the bodies of the victims?
Where are the military officers who are lleged to
have committed these murders? Why were some of them pardoned? Who pardoned
them and why? etc. As mothers, fathers, wives and children gathered at Qafthan, for the 15th year, to commemorate the killings
of their sons, husbands, fathers and children during the months of October
and November 1990, they again called upon the government of Albania to
investigate and brig to justice the officials and
officers who ordered the execution, and participated in, the killing of their
loved-ones as they were fleeing to Greece in search of freedom. However,
their cries fell in to deaf ears, again. There were no government
officials present at this commemoration. Agim Smaili, a boarder solder at that time, who was tried,
convicted and sentenced to 15 years in prison for having refused to kill any
escapees, said that "Between the months of October 1990 and November
1990, hundreds, if not thousands, of Albanians attempted to flee Albania and
cross over to Greece by way of Qafthan. The Kopstik Military
Post was the one to defend this path. Aware of the number of Albanians
fleeing through that path, the Albanian Ministry of Defense ordered
enforcement from Korc to that Post, to try to stem
out the flow of Albanians to received the same order, and they gave the same order to their boarder
solders" "The boarder soldiers were supposed to be the most trusted ones
and obey these orders without question. However, we refused to shoot and kill
our fellow countrymen. A group of us chose to flee betrayed "When the officers realized that the solders
were disobeying their orders, they led a group of "Special Forces"
and committed these killings themselves", said Nikollaq
Bako, 35, who was assigned to Qafthan
at that time, and who fled to Greece with some 20 other soldiers who refused
to shoot the escapees. "We want the names of these officers to be published, then have them arrested and tried in an impartial court of
law for murdering out family members" said Angelina Tirana, 55, whose
son, Angle, 22, was killed by these officers. "The boarder solders did not kill our loved-ones", said Artur Velia, the Chairman of the Group for the Truth on
the Qafthan Massacre. "They disobeyed their superiors
and then their superiors, in conjunction with the Special Forces from Tirana,
did the killings", he said. "We want those superiors brought to
justice", he continued. Our call to the Offices of the Attorney General of
Albania, in Tirana, Mr. Olldashi, were not
returned, nor were the calls to the office of the Public Advocate. The reason for the government's silence to this issue is conspicuous.
If charges are brought against the officers responsible for those murders,
those officers would implicate the politicians, too. And that is unacceptable in Maybe one day, when The editorial office Deputies and the crazy people enjoy immunity Limiting the immunity to deputies isn’t as simple as it might appear,
and not even political at all. Amongst three lawyers who agreed to answer for
our newspaper, two admitted to have defended accused people who had mental
problems, in other words, were crazy people. It was normal that their clients
were judged innocent. Yet, this phenomenon is not the purpose of this
article, for we don’t mean to discuss why the court judged innocent someone
who obtained from a psychiatrist some legal shelter or immunity.
I am convinced that, even
not referring to the present evidence; every reader could see personally some
bad behavior of; everyone heard someone saying: “Let him go, he is mad”. We suppose this means that
a missing response by the society is directly linked to the known fact that
the law doesn’t condemn that person. In the same way, this society,
everywhere in Again, not referring to the
present evidence, I am convinced that every Albanian has heard about abused
by the deputy, the minister, the diplomatic, the mayor, the director… Even in these cases
someone, even the law, said: “Let him go, we can do nothing, he enjoys
immunity”. So, let go the madman, let go the deputy; thus it appears that
psychological concepts become institutionalized and thanks to this bad
government until today could build their house only for mad people and
deputies, for the society surrenders to some other rules, isn’t it true? The Prime Minister Sali Berisha committed to
demolish this “house” where the maddest, even deputies and VIP-s shelter. At
least he is spotless and as a physician can examine the actions of the
qualified people, while many criminals were judged innocent and after that
came out to be as unable mentally as to make their businesses. In second hand
he is sincere, so he can treat VIP-s as abusing when they’re really such,
defining the law as well as the standard of behavior. The standard of
behavior of the deputy, in certain circumstances, isn’t better than that of
the “madman”. They enjoy immunity, do not give account to the law, use
misbehavior and are paid by the State, from the society who pays bills. The mad within the madhouse
cannot be condemned by law even if he kills. The same way the deputy within
the parliament cannot be condemned, can he? The former deputy Gafur Mazreku shot four times
with a pistol within the Parliament and wasn’t condemned. Did you mean condemnation? No, no, it is about a…
deputy. Even outside the parliament
the mad is like the deputy, as this last one “gave birth” to the law in this
way. The mad outside the
madhouse enjoys pension and feels good, the former deputy, outside the
parliament enjoys “pension”, 800 We think this is a
phenomenon, for with so many psychological sick-leaves and so many deputies,
they will become too many in a few years. If some files will be checked, it
might come out that in the little In this context, someone
might ask if there is any difference between the mad and the deputy in We say this because we
think we don’t have yet representatives which are acceptable to the society. Shkodra, for instance has given the vote for change, but
we think that if there were in parliament people like Anton Leka, Qashif Hoxha, Paulin Radovani, Tonin Gjuraj, Fatlum Nurja, Ormir Rusi etc, things would be
different; at least without the pressure of the 99 formulas. Sokol Pepushaj Bujanovc: Bomb attack on
the house of Reshat Avdullahi A few days before, on November 28, there was a bomb attack on the
house of Reshat Avdullahi
in the According to reliable
sources we had, we knew that this attack meant to kill Reshat
Avdullahi, about whom the Serbs had evidence he had
come back from According to our sources,
his political activity is the cause of much information exchanged within the
Serb Police, what brought to his imprisonment, where he suffered violence and
mistreatment. In the response of the branch of PDA in Bujanovc,
about the bomb attack on November 28, it is considered an attack of the Serb
secret police against the life of Reshat Avdullahi, with the purpose to eliminate him on one hand,
and cause panic making impossible the return of the population, on the other
hand. We could have the
pronunciation of the mother of Reshat, Mrs. Sherife Avdullahi, who was very
shocked by this terrorist act and concerned about the life of her son at the
same time. Sherife Avdullahi
sustains this was the second attack, after that of September 10, 2001. She
said crying she received a message from her son that he might come back from
the occident, and this she thought was terrible, because her son could be
killed. Many mothers wear in black for their sons who lost their lives either
killed with guns, bombs or perfidiously knifed etc., even though many years
passed, when they thought they could meet their families peacefully. Jetmir Delaj Clarification about the article “ We want to clarify, for the many readers of the “Shqipëria
Etnike” newspaper in and abroad, about some
technical mistakes detected in one of the articles of the previous editions,
in that entitled “Albania, a little country of big crimes”, in the 77th
number of June 14, 2005, on page 10, written by Rifat
Ymeri.
Because of technical
mistakes during the preparation process of the newspaper, in some sentences
there is some inaccuracy concerning the dates presented. For instance where
it is written that “on March 31, 1994, Kreshnik Osmani became member of the Association “2 Prilli”…”, we want to clarify that it should be “Kreshnik became member of the Association “13 Dhjetori 1990” on October 10, 1994, instead of January
11, 1995”. In another sentence it is
written that “on October 20, 1998, he was called at the Police Station of Shkodra, and during the interrogation…”,
we want to clarify that “Kreshnik had no fractures
on the back part of his head when beaten on October 20, 1998, but was
seriously wounded”. Another impropriety was in
another sentence, where it is written that “on October 2002, the democrat Kreshnik Osmani came to know Manjola Ndue Zojza, activist and member of the DP since 2001…”, and we
want to clarify that “Manjola Zojza
was arrested on April 2, 2002 and not on April 2, 1992”. Where it was written that
“from April 11 until April 14, 2003, Manjola was
kept at the Police Station, with the banal accusation…”,
we want to clarify that “it is about the feast of Catholic Easter of 2003 and
not that of 2004”. The editorial office of the
“Shqipëria Etnike”
newspaper considered proper to give this clarification, begging pardon to its
many readers in and abroad, about the inexactnesses
due to some technical mistakes during the preparation process of edition. The editorial office Property Mafia killing legal proprietors Property problems in Having authority on many
things, these land robbers built their dirty business on these properties,
like palaces, hotels, disco etc. If it was this alone, I
wouldn’t consider writing this article down, for these are known and frequent
problems in Albania, but there’s another evil thing occurring in Albania,
while many legal landowners do not dare to claim their right of property, as
seriously menaced by this Mafia. This is what happened in some cases in these
last days to some landowners who started trials to have their lands back. It is actual the case of
the family Xhafa, who claimed the right of its land
in Golem and those Mafiosi kidnapped Dashamir Xhafa, one of the sons of this family. Since June 2005, Dashamir was kidnapped and results missing traceless. The
destiny of Mr. Azbi Mitrolozi,
the proprietor of a huge land in Plazh of Durrës, was almost the same, as he was killed on October
18, 2005. It was more than one year
since Azbi started a trial to have his land back, but
he was warned several times, to give up this trial, otherwise he would be
eliminated along with his family. It is the responsibility of
the The correspondent of “Shqipëria Etnike” Socialists leave The story repeats; but for how far shall we go like this? Every time
there is political rotation or government replacement in Mr. Kadri
Myrtaj was an honest tradesman, enjoying great
reputation in Lushnje, where he was involved by the
Socialist Party in the elections’ commission of the area. He didn’t want to
be part of manipulations in the elections of July 3rd in this
area. He reported the manipulations and violence used by the DP during these
elections. As a result of this, he was subject to menaces and blackmail by
structures of the DP in town. There were attempts of physical elimination
toward his family, by criminals of the DP. In these serious conditions, as a
trial started against him for abandoning the elections’ commission of the
area, he and his family were forced to leave The correspondent of “Shqipëria Etnike” Blood-feud menacing even the baby in the womb It is one of the heaviest plagues of the Albanian society. The State
is unable to change something in this killing scheme, while different
associations give shocking numerals about the victims of blood-feud. All the
Albanians are victims of shots in the name of blood-feud, no mater their age, from the aged to the children, even
those who’re still waiting to start life, experiencing fear in the womb of
the mother. What Manjola Nikoll
Kiçi is experiencing is a real tragedy. Her only
fault was to marry one of the members of the family of Robert Kiçi. This is a really sad story and represents very well
the chain of human foolishness in the name of blood-feud. Robert Kiçi,
Manjola’s brother in law, the brother of Rrik, her husband, on February 19, 2005, killed for
revenge a member of the family Cubashi. Since that
time, as it is written in the Canon where blood-feud is based, menaces
started toward all the members of the family Kiçi,
even toward women. Manjola wasn’t out of this
terrible scheme too. Even her child in her womb is menaced. It is true that
this young family is totally destroyed. Manjola and
her husband, Rrik, left the country to be safe, for
death is nearer than life, which they were supposed to live in happiness.
Since June of this year, Manjola didn’t see her
husband and has no information about him, though she was supposed to have her
husband near her in these days waiting for the fruit of their love. The drama
of Manjola, her husband and their family shows
perfectly that the “Plague of the century” in Albert Vataj |
