The family Sanaj’s sacrifice life

During many decades the dictatorial communist junta was not satisfied sucking the blood of the free wills of people. As many Albanian families faced persecution during the system of Enver Hoxha, so even the family of Mr. Fran Gjeto Sanaj, suffered a persecution, model of the crimes against men. In the infernal prisons of Enver Hoxha, as it was for example that of the camp of Beden in Kavaja, the ex director of that prison, the criminal Haxhi Pela, used to put the political prisoners in mud until it reached their mouth and used to put the feet on their heads, killing them and leaving them there. The same happened in the prisons of Bulqiza, Martanesh etc. While for the interned and those discriminated through the class struggle were humiliated trying to kill their sense of being human beings. One of these was the democrat Fran Sanaj who came in the beginning of the democratic processes thirsty of human liberties and for a free Albania. He became active in the protests against the communist system of Ramiz Alia. He became the target of the red communist gangs, who threatened his life, his family and his relatives. This because he along with many Albanian democrats participated in the funeral of the first martyr of democracy Pëllumb Pëllumbi on June 16, 1990, who was killed by the communists in Han i Hotit, who broke thus the law of the time, they even after killed him was shot by Shemsi Premçi and was chained behind a camion and crept. He had also participated in the pulling down of the busts of the dictators Stalin and Enver on January 14 and December 13, 1990.

After March 22, 1992, when the Democratic Party took the power through the free votes, a ray of hope came down on all the Albanians and on him. But this was a short ray. After the communist-Bolshevik revolution of spring 1997, when Fatos Nano leading the red gangs could usurp the power, the life of troubles and injustice was back for the Albanian democrats. Fran Sanaj was also a victim of the dictatorial system. The hardest political revenge was on April 10, 2002, as it is these last days, when at about 2100 in the quarter “Tom Kola”, nearby his house, armed and masked people have trapped and violated him, menacing to fire him if he won’t give up his democratic convictions. There are many cases like this in Albania and they have been published by the medias. The incriminated communist state not only didn’t move but it seems like stimulating this. Many have testified that people in the prisons, obviously those for the political reasons, have had pressure by the policemen, the investigators, the attorneys, which means that the structures of this state are all political ones.

The democrat Fran Sanaj was obliged to hide his wife, his son and the son’s wife along with their little daughter, for there were threats to kidnap this last one, who is his grand daughter. Thus in these sacrifices to live, Fran Sanaj has lost contacts with his relatives. And what for? Only because they are democrats and anticommunists.

Dritan Memaj, witness of the power of violence

The incriminated structures of this communist power, which would be envy even to the regime of Millosheviç, are keeping under pressure the situation in Albania. One of the victims of this pressure is the democrat Dritan Memaj, who was violated and menaced to death by the communists in many occasions. He could be killed when the bust of Stalin was pulled down on January 14, 1990, or even when it was pulled down that of Enver Hoxha on December 13, 1990. He could had been killed in the great protest of April 2, 1991, when other four where killed and 113 wounded, but he could also be killed even on September 14, 1998 participating in the funeral of the ex democrat deputy Azem Hajdari. So in these cases and many other anticommunist protests Dritan was participant. Although he was not killed, he faced many threats, rubber stuff, and beats with buts of rifles. We have the facts of his admitted in hospital for fractures by the beats of the communists. If we remind the Katovica of the communist Ramiz Alia the problem of the properties should put disagreement between Albanians and the property wouldn’t go to the proprietor. Dritan Mema had great troubles even with the properties. In Albania the law is not observed. For the problem of the house he faced conflicts and three times was in danger to be killed. Although the right requests, the institutions in charge stayed in silence. The paradox goes to the point he is forced to stay shut in. this good man, this well known democrat, this young guy with purposes for his life, comes from an anticommunist family, called enemies during the times of Enver Hoxha. Since he was born until he became on year old he was in internment in Barbullush. These last times, having no hope to live was forced to leave Albania along with his wife. This is the reality the Albanian democrats are facing. This is a testimony of the power of violence and the violation of the human rights, and it is obvious that Hague might soon have “Clients” from the discriminating Albanian politics.

The democrat Pandi Aliko in Elbasan is beaten

In the great protest of the Albanian opposition in Valona, where was fired the flag keeper Agim Hysenbelliu on May 14, 2000 and where was also planned to be killed the leader of the opposition Sali Berisha, the democrat Pandi Aliko from Elbasan was beastly beaten by the police. Helped by some of his friends from Uji Ftohtë, he was cured at home and only after 12 days he went back to his birthplace in Elbasan. During that period the family thought the communists fired him. The tragedy didn’t finish there. He was also beaten in the center of Elbasan by Edmond Koseni, the former head of the police in that city, who is now rightly arrested accused for drugs smuggling and prostitution, also as a revenger against the opposers and very violent toward the innocent people. Aliko was violated as a democrat, for he is also father of four children and now is over forty-four years old. The cases of violence have been frequent till the moment Aliko is forced to go to some relatives of his wife in Saranda. The spies of the state’s security find him even there making his life impossible. In these conditions he is forced to go through the border illegally along with his family toward Greece hoping to have the possibility to go in any western country. His relatives in Elbasan say for the “Shqipëria Etnike” journal that they have lost contact since two months now and have no news either are alive or not. This is a case that shows the violence and completes the dictatorial picture of the Albanian communists.

The arrivals in Fier feel unsafe

During the last ten years in Albania there is a movement of people from the mountains toward the lowland zones. This was also the case of Epaminonda Vetari from the villages of Korça. When the law gave the land in a village of Fier, as the Vetari family lived there since one year ago they received 10 000 m2 of land and enjoyed it as long as the Democratic Party was on power. After 1997 some people pretend that land without respecting the law. They don’t even want to know anything about the fact that Epaminonda with three grown sons, their wives and children had built up two houses, and that they were Albanians. They are frequently menaced to be killed if they do not go back to Korça. Their life gets impossible, an as they had no properties in Korça, are forced to leave Albania and go somewhere far away, to Canada. There they might have stability. In Fier the case of the Vetari Family is not the only one. The arrivals, although numerous, feel unsafe. The state not only is silent, but also stimulates these acts.

The laws of 500 years ago are back again

Along with many other missing things in the Albanians’ daily life, like the water, the electricity and the other basic elements of life, there is another phenomenon in the years of the Albanian frail democracy. This because of the absence of order and security in the life of the entire country.

Such is the event we’re going to explain below.

In the far 1939 a man called Tahir Tusha, while hunting kills accidentally his friend called Hasan Lika. This happens because of the neglect in using the weapon. During the years before the liberation the Tahir’s family is careful to not submit to any danger by the other family. After the liberation the communist system in on power, and it did almost stop the phenomenon, so the entire family of Tahir lives quiet. It would be normal if everything went this way. Here starts the tragedy.

The nephew of Tahir called Besnik Bejto Rrushi, born on January 18, 1972, in 1999, as it is 60 years later, so he is forced to pay for his relative Tahir, who had killed Hasan Lika. The shameful act of 60 years ago is done by Enver, the brother of the late Hasan, who wounds the boy with a knife in the right leg, although when the accident had happened neither his father was born yet. But Enver is motivated by the wild laws of Lek Dukagjini, which says that blood is paid with blood, this is a law of 500 years ago and is put in practice even today in the modern times when the humanity is exploring the whole galaxy.

Could it be worse? Could it be more shameful?

In these conditions the Albanian guy is forced to leave his birthplace, braking so his youth dreams and the business he started with hard work. He leaves because the police cannot guarantee his life and that of his family, for the family of the man killed 60 years ago will absolutely be looking to kill any of the relatives of Besnik, for this is the canon!!!

The guy although totally innocent, is forced to leave for emigration just to escape the claws of death; for he had been menaced many times before he was wounded. He leaves with the hope that after some years, when in Albania there will be order and peace, he might turn back to keep on with his dreams where they were interrupted.

Will that day come soon? I don’t believe it.
