1997, a dark year in the Albanian history

The year 1997 is with no doubt the darkest year in the whole Albanian history. The brake open of the warehouses, anarchy, murders for political revenge, make the substance still reflected as a consequence of the powerlessness of the state to establish the authority of the law. Over 5000 Albanians have been murdered Description: Description: Description: D:\gazeta\Shqipėria Etnike\internet\she43\she43e1.gifsince that time; thousands others have been wounded and are numerous those who left their country. The justice organs are corrupted, as the opposition is every day appealing, while the state is closely connected to crime. The investigations are closed even before they start, while the criminals go around freely. In the northern city of Shkodra, as the hottest area for conflicts ending in murders, even today there are reported crimes of Sicilian type. On September 20, 2001, two people shot on other four, while they were having a cup of coffee in a bar in Parruca. Edmond Beqiri, 20 years old; Naim Beqiri, 39 years old and Shefik Kodra, 39 years old, died. The only one to come out safely was Hysni Beqiri, a police officer, but his son and a friend were killed. Our reliable sources report that Hysni Beqiri was the target, as he arrested the killers a week before this incident. Only God knows how they could come out. Hysni Beqiri was forced to leave his work, like many others. During the last six years, starting from 1997, 213 policemen were killed in service. This is the evidence that the Albanian state is neither stopping nor condemning the criminals, but also unable to protect its own dependents. The segments of crime are powerful defeating the state every day. Thought they are arrested, they come out for “missing evidence”.

Albanians’ hopelessness

The most recent murders of the two important Albanian businessmen, Miri i Xhikes and Flovian Vila, have been justly reported, by the Albanian opinion as well as the international press, as the slaughter of business. The murders, rapes, robbery, daily wounding, are hopelessness long before reported as such. The anarchy Description: Description: Description: D:\gazeta\Shqipėria Etnike\internet\she43\she43e2.gifholding on tight to the life of the Albanians has a political background, in order to delay transition extending this way their life at the seat of crime. The true democrats, who aspire for freedom and human rights, for an Albania as part of the Occident and not the post-communist Orient, are the center of violent hits. Arbana Bleta, born on April 5, 1974, suffered violence several times by the secret police, as she was an exponent of the Albanian democratic movement. Arbana, like many other friends of her, had to face the immoral, unlawful and inhuman. The frail bodies of the Albanian youth were hit by the police and beside their names were written the macabre words “To be killed”. Arbana Bleta was distinguished since the anticommunist students’ movement of 1990-1991. The eagle of the human freedom in Albania, the late deputy and our friend, Azem Hajdari, killed by certain segments of the security of state on September 1998 in Tirana, each time visited the anticommunist town of Shkodra, had to meet and consult the democrat Arbana Bleta. Azem was a new politician of a large vision, and obviously they were designing beautiful days for Albania. Today, while we write these few words, Azem is in a tomb, while Arbana somewhere abroad, to save her life seriously in danger. Azem had declared even in the Albanian Parliament that he knew he was planned to be killed, but Arbana too had expressed such a fear, that’s why she saw fleeing from Albania as the only hope for her, though she invested so much for this country. She was an important factor, helping the development processes, participating in many activities, peaceful protests of the Albanian opposition as well as part of the staff of Democratic Party in electoral campaigns. There comes a day, however, that she has to choose either death or departure.

Albanian youth threatened

Ardit Islam Peraj is seriously in danger. He is one of numerous young people targeted by the anarchist state, to be eliminated. This young boy of clear aspirations for his life is a member of the Democratic Party since August 20, 2002, as well as an activist of the Youth Forum of this party since May 15, 2000.

Description: Description: Description: D:\gazeta\Shqipėria Etnike\internet\she43\she43e3.gif During the hot campaign for local elections of October 1st 2000, Ardit Peraj was distinguished as a member of the electoral staff of the Youth Forum of DP, supporting Ormir Rusi as a candidate for Mayor of Shkodra. Ardit suffered physical violence as he had to face the attempts of the anarchist state to manipulate the votes. This young boy was also part of the electoral staff of the democrat deputy Astrit Bushati, in the voting center No. 5, during the elections of June 24, 2001. He was an overseer for this deputy in that voting center, and even there he suffered physical and psychological pressure, as well as physical violence. During the year 2001, Ardit was elected chairman of the Youth Forum of DP for the district “Naim Gjylbegu”. Pressure raised against him as his family too had been giving a great contribution for democracy since the beginning of the democratic processes. This went on until the day he was forced to choose, as the only way of salvation, to leave Albania.

Political murders and personal revenges are unstoppable

Many leaders of the Democratic League of Kosovo were killed. Such is the case of Mr. Tahir Zema along with his son and a relative. Another murder for still unknown motives in the municipality of Kaēanik is that of two persons, Halil and Jetmir Berisha, members of the well-known family Berisha. They were amongst the first victims of the regime in the system of Milosevic.

What seems to be more concerning is the fact that murders over the family Berisha are not having an end, even today. To them, the war period was as hard as that the after war period. An unofficial, yet reliable source, made known for “Shqipėria Etnike”, that Besim Berisha is now wanted to be shot. This same source made also known that Besim Berisha has no address and could be living hidden somewhere abroad, to save his life.

The family Berisha has lost many members. The murders are performed by unidentified people, trained killers, who searching after Besim too.

The democrats threatened, forced to leave Albania

The departure of Albanians from their country toward different countries of the world, especially toward USA, was numerous during the last years, mostly after 1997, the year when the communists, known as socialists, were violently back on power. Through their state structures, they are carrying on the political Description: Description: Description: D:\gazeta\Shqipėria Etnike\internet\she43\she43e4.gifrevenge against democrats, threatening them even to death, because of their activity against the Socialist Party and its government, who turned this country in poverty, crime and corruption. Today businessmen are being killed. The situation is even harder for the others, who can’t even have protection, suffering political persecution. Such is the case of Mr. Zef Prekė Malaj, born on March 19, 1966, in Dedaj of Shkrel, resident in Sterbeq of the municipality of Koplik in Malėsi e Madhe. He left time ago, because threatened to death. He left Albania in order to survive, along with his wife Gjelinė Malaj and their two little children. This was all because the local elections of 2003 are coming and Zef Malaj, with his political activity was noticed by the security forces of the socialist state and menaced to be killed if he was to keep on his activity. He suffered also physical violence by people speaking in the name of the state. Zef Malaj is well known in all Malėsi e Madhe, since 1990, as a member and activist of the Democratic Party of Albania. He participated in many peaceful democratic protests and also was member of the election commissions, representing the Democratic Party. Zef was going on with this activity still today, six months to the local elections. But Zef Prekė Malaj cannot be an activist during those elections, as forced to leave Albania along with his family, threatened to death.
