The new law: easier procedures for asylum requests in America

Albanian emigration

It was normal that after 1990, many Albanians wound look for freedom, civilization. Firstly it were Italy and Germany the countries of dreams, although Greece became the country that sheltered many more emigrants. This is simply because of easier chances to go to the Hellenic country. But the most preferred country now is America. There lives a large community of Albanians, who feel good, although they do works despised by most of Americans. The procedures to get a legal residence in America are complicated also because those who make request for asylum don’t have the necessary knowledge on the law. Besides the pure conscience during the interview and proving the motives of the request for the emigrant status, it was needed to prove the legal entrance in the American territory. In some particular cases there were admitted even applicants who had entered illegally in America. The new law on emigration in America makes this and other requests simpler.

Who can apply to become legal?

The American Senate is working on a bill for the reformation of the emigration system. The Juridical Commission of the Senate ratified the program of temporary employment, so that the illegal emigrants can apply for the right of residence, and even to become citizens. Albanians too can apply, considering the inappropriate situation for a normal life without danger in Albania, having great chances. It is a sad fact that most of the illegal Albanians in America today have entered illegally. They work illegally, get paid badly, and have no rights and many of them wonder unemployed. The American law today opens the windows of integration in the democratic society of the world. However, it is important to have juridical consultation before the application, for not everyone can apply.

The Bush-Administration appreciates emigrants

The bill of December, after the protests of hundreds of thousands emigrants in America, was abolished. The Bush-Administration created facilities, no matter the objection of the Republican Party. The President Bush said: “Emigration is a quality of a conscious and successful nation. The fact that many people leave their families and countries, risking everything to come in America, speaks aloud for our country. Their talent and hard work made of America one of the main countries of the free world”. The powerful objection of the republicans fell and the green-lights is on for every emigrant in America. This green-light gives hope to 13 million illegal emigrants in America and many others who were considered criminals. The impact of the law will introduce a chapter of hope for all of them. Yet it is good for everyone to have some elementary knowledge, at least for the laws, as they are the first step to live in America.

17 murders in Albania, arrested in Turkey

The boss of the gang of Lushnja, Aldo Bare, the criminal, author of about 17 murders, though known for the unseen crimes since 1997, wondered free not only in Albania, but also in some states, until he was arrested by the Turkish police a few days ago. Alfred Shkurti, known as Aldo Bare, executed people for revenge in his property; he cut their heads and played with their skulls. The Albanian police is still checking the lagoon of Lushnja, the property if Bare, digging. According to police sources, the criminal is charged of 17 murders. In Albania, Bare is accused for five heavy penal actions. In the meantime, the Italian state wants the Albanian killer, as he is wanted there too. Bare however is imprisoned in Ankara and the Albanian state started procedures for his extradition. Fortunately, Bare was arrested by the Turkish police, because if it was for the Albanian police, he could go on with the serial of murders. In the Albanian Parliament, the deputy Ylli Pango accused former ministers, actual deputies, for their links with the Albanian killer. Pango asked if they were accepting condolences for the arrest of Aldo Bare.

The Bare file was conceded to the Turkish Embassy in Tirana, which will send it to the Court of Ankara. The extradition will take place within 40 days in diplomatic ways. There are many murder files in Albania. It seems like they’ll never be opened if foreign states will not bring criminals back in Albania. The president of the European Commission, Mr. Barroso, exhorted the Albanian State for an engagement in fighting organized crime, corruption, in strengthening the state of law, within the European agenda. Responsibility, justice and consecration are needed. This is missing until now. Segments of crime are closely linked to politicians and an authority, that’s why there are hundreds of criminal files in Albania are “sleeping”. This is a State of fear and terror. The file of the activist of the Party of the Legality Movement, Naim Pepa, murdered on October the 3rd, 2000, two days after the local elections of October 1st, 2000, is still closed. He was president of commission in one of the voting centers and was killed because he didn’t allow manipulation before of the results. The Albanian press of the time wrote about the murder of Pepa, but it was just media noise. The authors are not arrested yet, even though identified and reported. Who can assure us that those killers didn’t act the same way as Aldo Bare, arrested a few days ago by the Turkish police? The family of Naim Pepa was continuously menaced to death, so that his wife and the two children had to leave Albania, otherwise they would be killed. It’s time for murderers, criminals, as long as the State doesn’t arrest the criminals that take away innocent lifes every day.

Fier: Revenge and violence

After coming on power with the elections of July 3, 2005, the Democratic Party started an open attack against commissioners of the SP- accusing them for manipulation of votes.

One of the most evident cases is that of the commissioner of the SP in Fier, Pilo Koçi, born on May 31, 1966, in Zharrëz. Pilo Koçi, agriculturist in the Commune of Zharrëz, became member of the SP since 1994. He was distinguished as an activist of this political force. In 1997 he participated in the protests organized against the government of the DP. During this year he was beaten and ill-treated by the police several times.

On October 12, 2003, he went through a car-accident at the place called “The Curve of Patos”, what caused him to stay for one month in the hospital because of the wounds. A few days after the elections of July 3, 2005, exactly on July 9, certain people go to his home and beat his father, Todi Koçi and his wife. That same month, in July 2005, Pilo himself was beaten near the house of his parents in law, and as a result he had to stay again in the hospital for one week. The revenge is not over yet. It is the time when Pilo and his wife were punished economically. He and his wife, who worked as a teacher in the Commune of Portezë in Fier, were both fired. The revenge continues on September 20, 2005, when their house in Zharrëz of Fier was burned. The destiny of Pilo Koçi and his family is one of the examples of revenge against supporters of the left-winged forces, especially against active members of the SP. This time, there were a couple of intellectuals, who felt continuously in danger.
